Starlark Docs: Python Diffs: Strings aren't iterable Per https://github.com/bazelbuild/starlark/blob/master/design.md#strings-are-not-iterable This is commonly encountered e.g. when validating inputs against externally-imposed naming conventions, particularly since regexps aren't supported either.
