When linking mostly-static Linux binaries, link libstdc++.a explicitly. This allows libstdc++ to be statically linked, which is normally only possible when invoking GCC as `g++` with the `-static-libstdc++` flag. Fixes https://github.com/bazelbuild/bazel/issues/2840 See https://github.com/envoyproxy/envoy/issues/415 for additional background and context. cc @htuch (for Envoy) and @calpeyser @hlopko (who I talked to earlier about this) I'm only doing this in the Linux toolchain because MacOS doesn't do static linking of system libs anyway, and I don't know enough about Windows or FreeBSD to test on those platforms. Closes #4031. PiperOrigin-RevId: 178762357
{Fast, Correct} - Choose two
Build and test software of any size, quickly and reliably.
Speed up your builds and tests: Bazel only rebuilds what is necessary. With advanced local and distributed caching, optimized dependency analysis and parallel execution, you get fast and incremental builds.
One tool, multiple languages: Build and test Java, C++, Android, iOS, Go, and a wide variety of other language platforms. Bazel runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Scalable: Bazel helps you scale your organization, codebase, and continuous integration solution. It handles codebases of any size, in multiple repositories or a huge monorepo.
Extensible to your needs: Easily add support for new languages and platforms with Bazel's familiar extension language. Share and re-use language rules written by the growing Bazel community.
