Move --distdir out of experimental status The option --experimental_distdir has been introduced 4 months ago and was completely unproblematic ever since. Moreover, it is now used productively, both in our own bootstrapping process[1], as well as in external packaging of projects using bazel[2]. So make this option non-experimental. We still keep the old name as an alternative to not break existing uses. Related: #5175. RELNOTES: The --distdir option is no longer experimental. This option allows to specify additional directories to look for files before trying to fetch them from the network. Files from any of the distdirs are only used if a checksum for the file is specified and both, the filename and the checksum, match. {Fast, Correct} - Choose two
Build and test software of any size, quickly and reliably.
Speed up your builds and tests: Bazel only rebuilds what is necessary. With advanced local and distributed caching, optimized dependency analysis and parallel execution, you get fast and incremental builds.
One tool, multiple languages: Build and test Java, C++, Android, iOS, Go, and a wide variety of other language platforms. Bazel runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Scalable: Bazel helps you scale your organization, codebase, and continuous integration solution. It handles codebases of any size, in multiple repositories or a huge monorepo.
Extensible to your needs: Easily add support for new languages and platforms with Bazel's familiar extension language. Share and re-use language rules written by the growing Bazel community.
